This October, Australia has a unique opportunity to shape history.
Polio, a disease which can disable, paralyse and even kill – has been reduced by 99%. Decades of vaccination work has protected more than two billion children against the disease – bringing eradication within reach. But a global funding gap is putting this monumental opportunity at risk, leaving children in some of our world’s poorest communities vulnerable to this debilitating disease.
This October, as a quarter of the world’s leaders meet in Perth for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, an overwhelming display of public support can put polio eradication on the global agenda and help realise a history-changing event.
That’s why Opportunity International Australia’s friends – the Global Poverty Project – are holding The End of Polio Concert on 28 October. This globally streamed event will drive polio eradication back into the international spotlight – giving Grammy-award winner John Legend as well as Bliss n Eso, The Getaway Plan, Calling All Cars, Hungry Kids of Hungary, Owl Eyes, Andy Bull and thousands of campaign supporters the chance to raise their voices and call on our leaders to end this disease.
